Sulekha Harun

Sulekha was born in Mandera town in the early ‘80s. She went to Bulla Mpya Primary School between 1992 and 1999. She then proceeded to Moi Girls School, Mandera where she completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. Between the years 2004 and 2009, Sulekha undertook a diploma in Information Technology and trained as a Certified Public Accountant. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree; finance option from Masinde Muliro University.  Currently she is awaiting her graduation with a Master of Arts degree in Gender and Development Studies at Kenyatta University.

Sulekha began her career as an audit assistant in Nairobi where she worked with Josia, Salah & Associates (CPAK) after completing her studies. She later joined Development Concern (NGO) where she assumed the position of a Program accountant.

In the year 2009 she joined African Development Solution (ADESO) an NGO with presence in West, East and Central Africa as well as the horn of Africa. She rose through the ranks from a Financial Analyst/Programme Accountant to become the overall regional (Horn of Africa) Finance Manager.

Through education, training, work and travels, Sulekha has gathered over ten (10) years of varied experiences from financial management to corporate governance. In 2017 she went into private practice as a finance and corporate governance advisor with various assignments in Africa and Asia. She had since established herself as a prolific consultant by the time she was appointed by His Excellency the Governor of Mandera County to head the Roads, Public Works and Transport Sector.

Currently , she is the CEC for County Treasury, Economic planning, Special programs, ICT & E-government
