Livestock,Fisheries & Veterinary Services
• Construction of Regional Livestock Market in Mandera is
ongoing.
• Establishment Regional livestock Disease investigation
and diagnostic centre is on-going
• Renovated and equipped the Diagnostic Veterinary
Laboratory in Mandera East
• Purchased 2 animal feeds making machines for Mandera
East and North
• Revived the Dairy Demonstration farm
• Construction of 3 Slaughter houses
• Established slaughter slabs in 4 wards
• Constructed 5 strategic fodder stores
• Constructed of 14 cattle crushes
• Construction of 16-twin water troughs
• Fenced Rhamu livestock market, constructed an
underground water tank and installed piped water
• Constructed 8 fish ponds in the county to increase
fisheries productivity
• Supplied and distributed fish feeds and fingerlings for the
new fish ponds
• Constructed 3 underground water tanks for bee keeping
groups
• Purchased fishing gears and cool boxes for fish farmers

poultry keeping groups

Livestock border post
• Increased fodder production along the Daua river by 50
percent
• Purchased and distributed 6981 kgs of grass seeds
county wide
• Purchased and distributed 52,000 bales of locally grown
hay county wide to cushion farmers against drought.
• Conducted feasibility study for establishment of leather
tannery countywide
• Constructed and equiped two mini honey refineries in
Banisa and Rhamu.
