Mandera County, September 16, 2025 – The County Government of Mandera has reached a significant milestone in strengthening the region’s livestock sector with the commissioning and operationalization of a state-of-the-art Type B Slaughterhouse in Takaba Town.

His Excellency Mohamed Adan Khalif, Governor of Mandera County, officially commissioned the facility on September 13, 2025, in a ceremony attended by Mandera West MP, Mandera South MP, county officials, representatives from the Takaba Butcher Men Association, and community members.

Two days later, on September 15, 2025, the Department of Livestock Development and Animal Health successfully operationalized the modern facility, marking the beginning of a new era in meat processing for the county.

“This facility represents not just a step forward in infrastructure but also in our commitment to food safety, public health, and economic development,” said Governor Khalif during the commissioning ceremony.

  • 150 goats / sheep
  • 15 cattle
  • 7 camels
