The County Government of Mandera, through the Department of Cohesion and Conflict Management, successfully concluded a two-day intra-community dialogue meeting between the Gurreh community in Banisa and the Degodia community in Malkamari. This initiative was undertaken as part of a resolution by the county leadership to conduct a fact-finding mission aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence along the Kenya-Ethiopia border.
Speaking during the conclusion of the dialogue, Mr. Hussein Yussuf, the County Chief Officer for Cohesion and Conflict Management, stated, “We organized these meetings following the resolution by the county leadership in our quest to bring peaceful coexistence between our communities. We are pleased to report that both communities have agreed to pursue an amicable solution to the recurring challenges, particularly along the Kenya-Ethiopia border.”
The dialogue brought together elders from both Kenya and Ethiopia, with support from key partners, including BORESHA NAPAD, VISION CORPS INITIATIVE, and RACIDA. The County Government remains committed to promoting peace and stability through continued engagement and collaboration with all stakeholders.
