Mandera Stadium Site Handed Over as KDF, Contractor Pay Courtesy Call on Governor

The County Government of Mandera has received officials from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the contractor tasked with constructing the 10,000-seater Mandera Stadium, marking the official commencement of the project.

The stadium was pledged by H.E. President William Ruto during his NYOTA Programme visit to the county. The project kicked off with a courtesy call at the Governor’s office, after which the delegation proceeded to the stadium grounds for the official site handover ceremony.

In his remarks, Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif commended President Ruto’s inclusive development agenda and assured the visiting officials of his administration’s full cooperation to ensure the project is completed successfully and within the stipulated timeline.

The project scope includes a 10,000-seater stadium featuring a VIP section, changing rooms, a football pitch, a running track, a cabro-paved parking area, a borehole, and a canopy covering the stadium.

The County Government delegation was led by County Secretary Mr. Billow Issack and the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Social Development, Mr. Mohamed Omar.

With the site now officially handed over, construction is expected to begin once the contractor completes the mobilisation process.
