The Department of Water Services today held a colourful staff recognition and awards ceremony to honour officers for their outstanding performance, dedication, and commitment to service delivery.
The event was officiated by H.E. Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, EGH, who lauded the significant strides made in the water sector, particularly the department’s commendable efforts in mitigating the effects of the ongoing drought across Mandera County.
Governor Khalif highlighted his administration’s interventions to address the drought situation, including the repair, drilling, and equipping of emergency boreholes, as well as sustained water trucking operations to 266 sites across the county. He further noted that the county government continues to implement additional drought mitigation measures in collaboration with the National Government and humanitarian partners to strengthen household resilience and protect the most vulnerable populations.
During the ceremony, several units were recognised for exceptional performance, including the Rapid Response Team, Groundwater Survey Team, and Project Design Team, alongside the Human Resource, Procurement, and Finance departments for their critical support roles.
In his remarks, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water Services expressed appreciation to all departmental staff for their exemplary service and dedication. He urged them to remain focused, uphold professionalism, and continue delivering quality water services to the people of Mandera County.
