The County Government of Mandera continues to strengthen strategic partnerships that advance healthcare delivery and emergency preparedness across the county.
Today, H.E. Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif received a courtesy visit from Peter Milo,Country Director of the Fred Hollows Foundation. Discussions focused on key departmental priorities and strengthening collaboration in eye health and the wider health sector. The county government and the foundation agreed on a partnership framework for 2026–2029, which will further support the County’s health priorities.
In a separate engagement, the county’s Ministry of Health Services held a productive meeting with a team from the International Committee of the Red Cross on strengthening emergency preparedness and response. The engagement included reviewing progress since their previous visit, assessing adherence to emergency protocols through supportive hospital visits, introducing principles of mass casualty management, and initiating the appointment of members to the Mass Casualty Incident Planning Committee. Additionally, discussions were held with the hospital management team to strengthen institutional preparedness and coordination.
The county health team also received maternal and child health equipment from RACIDA as part of the organization’s commemoration of 20 years of service. This valuable contribution will strengthen efforts to improve healthcare services for mothers and children across the county.
