Digitization and digitalization have been identified as the most effective and efficient ways of land administration and management.
Consequently, Mandera County Government is migrating from the manual to digital system through the Land Information Management System (LIMS).
The LIMS was successfully rolled out in Mandera East, where it has successfully aided in managing and sharing land information.
Because of the success of LIMS in Mandera East, the county government has initiated the process of rolling out the system to other sub-counties.
As a result, the Department of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning organized a three-day workshop in order to train the lands officers on digitalization of land records.
The main purpose of the workshop was to equip the officers with requisite knowledge on how to use the LIMS to capture, register, and securely store land records.
During the training, the officers were taken through land related topics such as land administration, physical planning, principles of land surveys, and Geographic Information System (GIS). The topics enabled the participants to understand the roles of each department in supporting the LIMS through land use planning survey, allocation, and registration.
The officers have benefitted immensely from the training and are ready for the roll-out of the system to the sub-counties.
Once rolled out, the system will help improve revenue generation, conflict resolution and security of land records.
The training was conducted and facilitated by officers from the county government
