British High Commissioner, Mrs Jean Marriot Visits Elwak for Drought Assessment

Today in Elwak, a delegation led by the British High commissioner Mrs. JEAN MARRIOT visited the area in accompany of H.E the Governor, Mohamed Adan khalif.
The visit was purely and entirely on:

1. Assessment of drought situation

2. Cross-border security meeting with both county and subcounty security committee members and security members from Jubaland.

Matters pertaining to opening of border, Alshabab insurgence and cross border trade were mainly discussed.

The High commissioner visited Elwak regional market, the police Fort and finally held a meeting with Elwak community women, youth, elders and religious leaders at Haji Dayow Hall.

In the entourage is Dr. Stephen UN representative in Kenya, our county commissioner Mandera county Mr. Onesmus Kyatha leading county security team, Mheshimiwa kore and mohamud haji of DFID among others.

The team have promised to stand in with Mandera community during this drought period.
