Mandera County Government in partnership with Kenya Aids NGOs Consortium (KANCO) today held an advocacy and social mobilization meeting on improving immunization uptake

Mandera County Government in partnership with Kenya Aids NGOs Consortium (KANCO) today held an advocacy and social mobilization meeting on improving immunization uptake in Mandera County with Members of Mandera County Assembly (MCAs) particularly with the assembly health and budget committee members.
The meeting held in Granada hotel in Mandera town had two main objectives
1. Advocating for utilization of immunization services at county health facilities vaccine that are available and been provided freely in order to eliminate transmission of vaccine preventable diseases. Also, HPV to avert cervical cancer which is the second killer.
2. Strengthening community level interventions through enactment of Centre for Health Solutions (CHS) bill and ringfencing of both immunization and community health services funding. This will go along way in addressing social and cultural barriers that have been curtailing uptake of this high impact intervention.
County Chief Officer Public Health Mrs. Rahma Abdullahi immensely appreciated KANCO, the members of county assembly and H.E Governor Ali Roba’s exemplary leadership for their commitment and support in enabling the department to actualize its mandate to the residents of Mandera county.
The meeting was officiated by CCO Rahma Abdullahi and attended by county health management team, Hon. MCAs and representatives from supporting partner KANCO.
